Today the school started at 8:00 a.m.

The weather was changing in the night and it was snowing. Our school day was very boring, because we had Finnish lessons and we couldn`t understand.

So we thought about, that the first week was much better.

In the first week we could do much more for example we had more contact to the guests and we were speaking with them in english.

At 10 a.m. Mrs.Kaisa picked us up and we were going to a "Travel Agency".

She introduced us Tanja her student. Tanja was making a internship by the "Travel Agency"

In the evening we went to an italian restaurant. There we had dinner, it was very delicious.

Anja started at 8:00 a.m. in the kitchen, she was cooking the lunch for the students with Heli and Sara, she finished at 2:00 p.m..

 

Marie and Sophia started at 10 a.m., they had three hours Swedish lessons and they  finished at 1:00 p.m. . After school we went to the center to have a coffee and we were talking about our day, then we went home and cooked something for dinner.

On Sunday we were not doing much, an that´s the reason why we want to tell you our expressions about Joensuu;

We think it´s very nice here, but the school system is very different than in Austria so we have to get used to it. The teachers and students are kind and very helpful and if you have any questions they make an effort to help you. If we want to talk to a teacher we can call them by their first name.

The city is small it´s like Klagenfurt but a little bit smaller, here are may small restaurants and enough shopping possibilities. And we are very glad to be here.

On Saturday we were cleaning our flat and did some laundry. In the afternoon we were going into the city and we went  shopping and there we met Milla.

 

We decided to go out for dinner with her, she wanted to show us the "local bistro" but it was already everything reserved. Then we went to the restaurant "Torero" a spanish local. The food was really nice and the atmosphere was fantastic.

Marie and Sophia`s day started at 08:00 a.m. and it was the longest day at school.

 

They were working at "1000 working places", there you could find many information about any jobs!

The weather was really warm for Finland, it had about 1 degree and the sun was shining.

 

This event took place in a huge sport hall. Marie and Sophia had to sell coffee, cake and pizza.

One funny moment was that the tea cooker was broken and Marie fixed it . Kari and everyone were really surprised. Kari asked: "Are all Austrian girls professional engineers?"

 

Anja was working in the kitchen and was responsible for the main course and she finished at 02:00 p.m.. Sophia and Marie were working until half past 04:00 p.m..

 

In our freetime we met some students, Sara, Elina and Ilari. In the evening we went to a "Karaoke Bar". There we met Heli a teacher from the kitchen. It was a very nice evening.Ilari, Sara and Elina had to leave us because they had to work next day really early.

 

So Heli showed us a little bit about the nightlife in Joensuu and we had lot of fun.

Our school started at 8.00 in the morning.

At first we were writing our blog, as we finished our blog we started to work in Kiesa restaurant.

 

Anja was working in the kitchen with Ilari and Sara.

 

Marie and Sophia took the orders from the teacher tables. The first day that Marie and Sophia were working on their own and they did a great job. Kari our teacher told us that we were working like professionals. We were very proud about that.

 

It was a great day and we were really happy about that Kari gave us his trust.

 

 

  

 

24.01.2018

The plan for today was "outdoor cooking".We started a trip to the biggest lake of Joensuu and there we transported  the food on our "bobs" into the forest.

 

We walked about 5 minutes to the hut. As we arrived Ilari has warmed up the hut. There we drunk some tea and we started to peel potatoes, the others were cooking the reindeer and smoked the salmon.

 

We had lunch at half past 11 a.m. and when we finished Sara was cooking french toast with whipped cream and some jam. It was a very nice day and we are thankful that we could have made this experience.
